Job well done!

Cuts for the cause turned out to be a huge success! You can read all about it in this mornings Democrat and Chronicle. Hair salon raises cash for cancer treatment
Of course I have a few pictures to share from the day.

The wonderful Palmiere's (and little Marea)

The generous group who helped hold it all together..

And the nearest and dearest to my heart, My almost 7 year old Nina. Not only did she get her hair cut just to help with the donations, she gave her 10 inches to Locks of Love.

Measuring....

Cutting....

And finished...

Thank you Nikki Gonzales for such a FABULOUS hair style!!

Cuts for a Cause

Cuts for a Cause is an afternoon-long event held at Tangles Hair Designers and Spa on Culver Road in Irondequoit. My best friend, Nicole Palmiere, her brother Michael and their parents, Gary and Diane, who are the owners of Tangles alongside the 13 other stylists will be benefiting cancer research today. All money earned and donated goes directly to Cancer research at Golisano Children's Hospital and the Wilmot Cancer Center.
Besides free hair cuts with a $10 minimum donation there will be hots and hamburgers for sale, clowns, balloons, a guest guitarist and emcee, and firetrucks and police equipment on display (thanks to their neighbor Ridge-Culver fire department and the Irondequoit Police Department). $5 raffle tickets will lead to many many fabulous prizes. Show your support and come on out for a good cause!! (you may even win a Heather Cicione Photography gift Certificate!)

Tortorice

Babies this age, for me, are the most difficult to shoot. Why do you ask? Well, they aren't angelically sleeping, forcibly smiling or even sitting on their own. They are like lumps of human, although exceptionally adorable, who really don't do much. Luckily for me, baby 'B' was just a bundle of beautiful blue eyes who did pass a few smiles my way. I don't think she made a peep the entire time I was there. Not even up to the minute she fell fast asleep outside, nestled in her mother's arms.
So K&B, sorry for making you wait so long! I have just a few more to go. Sharing a few of my favorites from the session.

My all-time super most favorite teacup ever(no baby ever put their feet perfectly together like this for me!)

365 Day Challenge

A while back a group on Flickr started the 365 day challenge; Every day for one year they would take a self portrait. I've attempted this once before but didn't make it very far so I've decided to try it again. This time I will get through the year, although 2008 happens to be a leap year, making it 366 days.
I've posted the gallery on my website. Feel free to follow along with me, leave me comments or just enjoy as a lurker!

Just two more....

I am hoping to update this blog often but find I don't have too much to say; Or not enough time to say it. So I thought I would just share just two more of my favorite images from the Websters' session (which I am finally done editing!).
Such joy and admiration shown in these...this is what I love most about about being a photographer.

Webster Family

Believe it or not, this would be my first beach session. There's something about the calming of the water and the warmth of the sand that makes this the perfect location for family pictures. Now, with the Websters, anything would have been possible. What a gorgeous, gorgeous family. Little 'A' was just a doll, such a good natured boy even up to the moment to when all he would do was yawn. Thanks C & R!!

and I promise...I am almost done!!

Here I am!

I figured out why most photographers have Blogs; It gives their clients a glimpse into their session before waiting entirely too long to see every shot taken. I'll admit, I'm a slow editor but not by choice. Truth be told the only time I am allowed to edit is when the kids are in bed, the lights are out and the only noise I hear are those annoying crickets outside of my window. If I'm lucky, my drifting mind will allow me to edit straight though without remembering something else I had to do while online. If not, my distraction takes hold and before I know it, it's 1am and I must drag myself upstairs to lay down before I've lost so much sleep I am no good for the next nights pile of editing.

You must have already noticed the time. 12:15am. See where this is going? Distraction. Procrastination. And now, back to editing but first..

Welcome to my blog!!
It is with my best interest to update this often. Check back often for new images! Don't forget to leave comments either, let me know your thoughts!
